Scope and Contents
The correspondence in the collection is between Elizabeth Wilcox, and Beaumont Newhall, Virginia Adams, and Terence Pitts, and concerns Wilcox’s recollections of the workshop and the disposition of the collection. The collection also includes photocopied pages of clippings, photographs, and text.

Historical Note
“Images and Words” was a two-week workshop offered at the University of California, Santa Cruz, from June 26-July 8, 1967. The workshop staff, Ansel Adams, Beaumont Newhall, Nancy Newhall, and Robert Katz, gave instruction in the collection, preparation, and use of photographs and text for publication. The workshop participants produced a photo essay ready for publication as a project. Elizabeth Wilcox was a participant in the workshop and documented her experience in the photographs which comprise the bulk of the collection.

Abstract
Correspondence, photocopies of photographs with text, and photocopies of contact sheets documenting the 1967 workshop “Images and Words” taught by Ansel Adams, and Beaumont and Nancy Newhall at the University of California, Santa Cruz. These materials were assembled in 1990 by Elizabeth Wilcox, a participant in the workshop.
