Warner Taylor was born John Warner Taylor in New York City in 1880 and attended Columbia University. He received his BA in English in 1903 followed by an MA in 1907. Taylor became interested in art as his father was a professional framer. He experimented with a Brownie camera throughout his studies. By profession, Warner was a Professor of English at the University of Wisconsin. As a self-taught photographer he had one of his photographs exhibited at the New York World’s Fair in 1939, and was a Three Star Member of the National Photographic Society. Warner died in 1958.
