Biographical / Historical

Alfred Stieglitz (1864-1946) was an American photographer and promoter of photography as an art form. He met the painter Georgia O'Keeffe in 1917 and, after divorcing his first wife, married her in 1924. Over a period of twenty years he made more than 300 individual portraits of O'Keeffe that remain unique and compelling in their ability to capture many facets of a single subject.
